naw this is custom no factory puts out work this fine i got the knife in montana it was from an estate sale guy who sold it to me didn't know jack about knives and didn't want to tell me any more i got it on the auction system ebray for $65.28 cents and i wouldn't sell it [ after i sharpened it and saw that it was fine german steel ] for $249.99....

all true but i sharpen knives and this is very fine steel smooth edge great crystaline structure probably closer to true steel than any i own ...but i sharpened my eye brand from the middle of the knife to the edge [ a little over a half inch ] it's scary but i love it so i don't really need this knife and being the steel it is it is worth far more than anyone [ who dosen't share my true steel theory ] would ever give for it ..........so some real hunter somewhere has not found his knife ....

im glad it has that fine sharpable steel. I do understand how rare that is. great steel is produced by great tempering , and no 2 are exactly the same. even some cheaper knives if tempered correctly , will obtain a true razors edge. others of far more expense may not. its indeed a crap shoot buying vintage knives. you don't know how its gonna be till you've sharpened it yourself. glad you got more than your moneys worth. it is quite beautiful and unique .
