Hello everyone!
This is an antique bronze Pug that I acquired earlier this year. He's very detailed and life sized as well. He measures 17" long, 7 3/4" tall and 7 1/4" at his widest point. He's not solid, but still weighs in at nearly 17 lbs. He has a very nice patina. There are no markings from any maker, that I can detect. I've never seen another one that even closely resembles this one, so I'd have to say this one is fairly rare. I have seen others, but those were about 70% smaller than this one. He's so lifelike that most visitors do a double take when they see him.
This fellow, along with some of my other dogs, will actually grace the pages of Antique Trader Magazine that will be out August 2019.
Thanks for taking time to stop in for a look!!
Scott
A PUG!!! I am in love! My family have had Pugs since the 1960s. The last one reached the ripe old age of 17 (Betty Lou).
Thanks Bonnie!! My neighbor used to raise Pugs for dog shows. I think they got treated better than their own kids did:) Betty Lou certainly did live a long life. Our oldest Dachshund was 15 when he passed.
Thanks Thomas!!
I can't wait to retire so I can have more time to play:) Five years to go and counting!!
Hi Mr J! I've missed you lately ;) This is a cutie and I bet somewhere on there is a hidden mark that you'll probably find somewhere down the line and wonder when you do find it, why you never saw it before. And how is that adorable little Carly doing? Is she getting any bigger?
Such a great addition to your collection Scott.
Sue,
Thanks so very much!! I've studied it for quite a long time. I actually bought this from one of the "Storage Wars" folks. So, it had been stored for quite some time when I bought it.
Carly is doing really well. She'll be 8 months old on July 16th. She's weighs 8.5 lbs and is the love of our life!!
Roddy,
Thanks so very much friend!! Though most of my cast iron and bronze dogs stay outdoors from Spring thru Autumn, this guy spends his days indoors.
Too cute is right. Glad to see you back Scotty.
Ken,
Thanks very much friend!! He is definitely detailed.
Thanks Roy!!
I've missed everyone tremendously. Life shouldn't have to be this busy. Planning to hire more staff to take on some of the load. Unfortunately, not anyways soon though.
Hey Gary!!!
Good to hear from you friend!! I've definitely had no time to gather any moss. We did have a good 4th (even though it rained all day). Sounds like you'd better stay clear of your wife's strap:)
Lovely to hear from you Scott, and with this very special bronze. Are the bunnies scared?
Thanks so very much Karen!!
This fellow scared the bunnies so badly that I had to pack them away safely:) I've managed to collect quite a few goodies in all of my travels this year. Can't wait to show them all off. I got thru only a few of yours, but can't wait to go back and check out the rest of your treasures that I've missed over the past few months.
Welcome back Scott! And with a great pug doorstop.
Thanks fortapache!! Glad you like him!

OMGosh, I did not realize my Lulu had been cast for this.....lol
Looks just like my 12 yr. old black pug I inherited after the death of my stepmother in September 2014. And I'd never spent much time with pugs before then and can now say I'd gladly have another some day. This is my first lap dog, I'd always had larger breeds but I really love and enjoy her.
I love it Scott!
Karen,
I'm so glad you like my bronze pug. Sorry for the loss of your stepmother. Sounds like Lulu is in very good hands. We've always had Dachshunds and just got a female longhair Dachshund in January. But, I've always loved little Pugs though.
Thanks Scott!
Enjoy your new family member and congratulations also!
