Still yet again another from the Rose Bowl Flea Market, this time the August edition. The temps in the summer tend to be on the warm side so many buyers and sellers stayed away. The pickings were slimmer but I still made some great buys. This is part of a lot of Athearn HO train cars I bought.
Based on the box I believe this is from the 1960s and it is as mint as it gets. For some reason model railroaders don't seem to have any interest in this like Matchbox collectors do. Thus prices are low. Currently the manufacturers of quality model trains are all concentrating on the high end. And they wonder why no kids are interested in the hobby.
As for the set these were sold as kits. Excellent detail but assembly required. But way better than Tyco trains of the time. This model features the long trailer which is the same length as the box cars of the time which was 40 feet.
I really like the silver trailer and the graphics on it. The tractor is a White Freightliner finely detailed. Made of plastic but good plastic. Plastic allows for the best detail I am thinking.
Cool truck Fortapache!

Nice!! I know some train collectors that would be over the moon to have this.
Thank you very much Karen LR71, go to have cars and trucks to go with the trains.
Thank you Rick55.
Thank you SEAN68.
LOL..yeah, I should have caught the FOCUS on the trucks/cars. Once the rail is 'in', must have transportation to get the goods to where they need to go!
I have one of these trucks, I thought I was the only one who liked them. Very cool.
Thank you very much SuperDuty. Love Athnearn and their trucks.
Sorry I missed you Karen.
