Another piece of petrified wood from the Petrified Forest area. The most interesting thing about this piece is the shop where I bought it. Located off I40, the former Route 66. It's on a hill just off the highway, perfect for placing some tacky fake dinosaurs and old school buses to attract travelers to the shop. Plus feeding ostriches, a perfect Route 66 roadside attraction/shop.
There were many fine polished pieces of petrified wood but I prefer something more raw (and much cheaper). So I bought this $5 rock and got the little piece free. It was another $5 to feed the ostriches. They did nipple my fingers a bit but not very painful. They do not seem like they would make good pets, a tad aggressive and large.

Thank you very much Manikan. It is still fun with ghost towns and towns that have embraced their Route 66 heritage.
