The photos likely don't really do it justice -- I've always thought this (these) is just a spectacular old chunk of glass light fixture globe anyways. Pictured here sitting upside down with a 25w blue party light bulb inside on a simple wooden display base I made for it, it is one of six that originally, reportedly, used to hang over a lunch counter in downtown Galesburg IL, maybe 1920's/30's or so. Said 'report' comes from my memory of first purchasing it (and the other 5, those still safely packed away in boxes) from a farm auction when I was a teenager living near Galesburg, in the early 1980's.

It has what seems to me (?) to be a generally art-deco design shape/style to it, highly decorated with various small embossed patterns that practically (decoratively, too!) seem to serve to be very efficient light diffusers. (note background, first pic) It is made of basically clear glass, though there is the slightest little tinge of 'milky' or 'bluish' color to it especially around its neck, which is about 6" across. The whole thing is roughly 12" in 'cubic' dimensions.

If there are any maker's/mfr's marks on it anywhere I haven't ever found them, so anybody's suggestions towards that end are welcomed?!!

The clear blue incandescent bulb is the key to how pretty it looks Phil -- something about the glass it is made of just *pops* with that kinda light inside it, in a way unlike any other colored (or clear) bulb (of many) I've ever tried in it over the years. (including blacklight/UV bulbs, which do nothing whatsoever to it...?)

Our Learned Moderators apparently agree with my "art-deco" guesstimation of its style as they recategorized it as such -- thanks to the Mods for that confirmation! :-) I would still *absolutely welcome* anybody's thoughts as to its age, who might have made it, or what it is about the glass that likes 'blue light' so much...??!!
