This is one of our favorite vases and holds a prominent place in our home. It's a rare, Steuben, Gold Aurene over Alabaster vase in the "Shelton" pattern, circa 1928.
This is basically a cameo style piece where the alabaster glass is covered in gold aurene, masked off with the pattern and acid etched leaving behind the Shelton design in gold relief.
The shape number is 2683 and it stands 12" h, however, it displays much, much larger due to its 33 1/2" circumference around the belly.
An example of this piece, from the collection of the Rockwell Museum, is documented in, "Fredrick Carder and Steuben glass", page 192, fig. 8.43.
As always, thanks for looking : )

Oh wow Rick, That's a huge Steuben vase, and what another beauty it is! B^D
Your Museum, just gets better and better! Thanks so much, for showing, for free! :^D
Steuben Glass was one of my first types of art glass that I learned about when I worked for Shirley T, the owner of the Antique/Junque Shop, that I worked at, when I was 12y.o. until she sold it in 1976, when I was 21. She had bought, to sell, a set of green glass dishes, that she thought may have been special, and asked me to search for any mark that I could find, and on a few of the pieces I found the acid etched Steuben mark, on the bottom, and how excited she was! She sold the set of 8 place settings, including wine glasses, for over $1,2oo. in the Antique Trader, or Collector's Weekly Papers, in 1968, a great price, for her $30. investment! I really earned my $1.hr. wage that day, and caught the collector bug, too! :^)
I'm speechless....Let the beauty speak...

@Jenni... Yes the gold does stand out a little bit... even more in person as it sits below its own light...
@Billret... Thanks so much Bill, I always look forward to your comments : ) You were so lucky to be able to work in an antique shop all those years, and I'm sure what you learned has been invaluable... What better way to introduce yourself to antiques than with hands on experience. : )

Rick and Gloria have been on a buying, and selling spree, so he hasn't had any time to spare, just trying to keep up with taking all the photographs, answering all the questions, and packing, and shipping, is about max, for the time that he has! They have found, and bought some very beautiful glass though, and I'm sure we'll all be seeing him back posting, when things settle down! Rick has been keeping me updated, with a few photos, and descriptions, about once a month or less, and saying that he's very sorry about not being able to stop by CW, and I know that you know Jenni, how much time it takes, to post, check out what's new, and to go back with comments, and answer questions, because I think that you're one of the best, at doing that! :^D Rick knows if he stops by, for just a "Hi", it could turn into a 6hr adventure here, at CW, and just can't spare the time, but he will be back soon! :^)
Lol Bill... Thank you, after quite the battle, I'm doing much, much better thanks!
Rick
Nice to see you Rick..even if it’s just for a moment..xoxo
