Not sure of the difference, but Nyonya Straits / Peranakan pieces were made in China for the Thai, Malaysian, Singapore, Indonesian market - specifically for Chinese people who had made those places their home 100-400 years ago. There are certain tell-tale symbols in this kind of pottery. On this one, it is the large chrysanthemums as the main symbol. also the shape is very important. i'm just learning about it and find it pretty interesting.

The flared base has not been an easy find for me (ever) but i keep searching. I pride my 'CHINA' collection. Got one or 2 with the backwards N as well.
