I found this interesting item while cleaning out a cellar. The wooden handle has a wooden screw top which closes a compartment for screwdriver heads.
There is no manufacturer's mark to be seen. This device, except for a little superficial rust is in really good shape.
If anyone can contribute anything as to its age, manufacturer, rarity, and/or value, please add to this post.
Thanks!
Thank you,AnythingObscure and bobby725....I appreciate your loves of this item.
These are called "Multi Tool Handles", "Poor Man's Tool Kits", etc. They evolved from the 1860's time frame period, and were used by many of trades, such as Carpenters, Handymen, Sailors, Shoe Cobblers, etc. Very Nice!

My Pleasure Ted !
Very good, sir!
I had a very similar one for quite a while, sadly now lost. It was actually a reversible ratchet drive. Is this one?
Thank you, racer...sorry to hear that your driver has been misplaced. Hopefully, it will turn up sometime soon! No, this is not a reversible model :( Thank your your input.

Hey Ted, nice one! :^D I have one like it, and UncleRon posted one a while back. Here's a chisel set like it too!
