A very nice Highland Light Infantry Officer's Full Dress Doublet, dating to the late WWI period. The Doublet is in pretty good condition considering it's age, but it does show some service wear and general aging. The Doublet sports 8 buttons down the front, all regimental buttons except for the bottom button which is a plain and flat button (which made it easier to put your Officer's belt on). All the other buttons are also Regimental HLI buttons. Lovely gold braiding on the doublet flaps, collars and cuffs. The shoulder epaulets sports 2 rank stars per side, identifying this Doublet to the rank of Full Lieutenant. The brass tube tie for the left shoulder epaulet is taller than the other. To the collars, beautiful buff facings (which was the facings colour used by the Highland Light Infantry post-1899), as on the cuffs. Collar badges unfortunately absent but the holes are there for when I eventually acquire original period replacements.
The interior of the Doublet is in fantastic condition. The doublet is named and dated. It is named to 2nd Lieutenant B.S. Burnett and is dated 1918, a late WWI or very early inter-war piece. The Doublet is manufactured by Hill Brothers in London.
Overall a fantastic Doublet in stunning condition to the Highland Light Infantry.
