I've had this for maybe ten years and never seen another one like it and I have searched all of my reference books, ebay, Google, etc.. I probably bought it in a thrift shop. It is heavy and most likely intended to be a paperweight, 3 1/8" x 1 1/2".
Update: After years of browsing images of glass cats, I suddenly found several examples and was able to identify it per the title of this post.
Well dang. Looks like I solved my own mystery. There are three of these on ebay and a couple on Etsy right now. All of a sudden these things are dropping out of the sky. Swedish - Mid Century made by Erik Hoglund for Kosta Boda Paperweight/Small Dish. Hogland apparently made these in several themes. Pretty certain that I didn't pay more that a couple of dollars for mine.
Yep, nice Hoglund piece!
I once spent a lot of time trying to buy one of these for someone who loves cats and does similarly wacky sketches! Inspired to try again.....
Love your cat paperweight! Very well photographed, so you can see the raised cat image, while the illuminated pix are wonderful golden silhouettes. Beautiful piece, kudos
Thanks for the comments! Yes these are definitely out there and can be purchased. My Panasonic Lumix gets credit for the photos. Hard to mess things up with this camera. The sad thing is that, now that I have familiarized myself with Hoglund's work, I am positive that I recently saw one of his tall vases in brown glass with the glass "seal" on it in a thrift shop. Sigh.
I have this one in blue posted on here !!
