Hello, I've had a great few days of collecting. I picked this up in a shop yesterday. It is called Arise the Netherlands and made by the Societe Ceramique in Maestricht somewhere between 1945 to 1950. It's numbered 342.
The plate features a Dutch Nobelman trumpeting on horseback while trampling a Nazi flag. It also commemorates Victory by the banding of Dutch, British, and American Flags. The inscriptions are Herrijzend Nederland / Naar Vrede / en Walvaart, which means Netherlands Rise Again / Peace / Prosperity.
Hope you enjoy and Thanks for looking.
Beautiful plate, excellent artist rendering of horse stamping on Nazi flag (those low countries really suffered in the war), wonderful scene of bugler and horse, good artist
Newfld, Those countries had tens of thousands volunteering for the SS. Of course, after the war, they swore they had nothing to do with it. LOL
Thanks for the love.
Thank You clockerman, SEAN68, vetraio50, Caperkid, AdeleC, TassieDevil, blunderbuss2, fortapache, and Newfld.
well you have to differentiate the branches of SS for the ratio , so the conclusion is the a bit the easy way
actually the Dutch are proud people who like to forget the historical facts
well it is quite simple we got the highest second highest collaboration rate in the world !!! IMO as Dutch we were the world champion of an ostrich colony with heads in the sand
