    I just purchased 4 of these signs they measure 9'-9" x 3'-9" (very large) they are porcelain are are in pretty nice shape. I have tried to find information on these signs but have not been able to find any thing close to the design or size,all the SACONY signs I see are much smaller. I do know that SACONY later became MOBIL Any info you can share would be appreciated.

      SOCONY was a division of the Standard Oil Company, which was broken up by congress in the early 1900's. SOCONY is an acronym of the Standard Oil Company of New York, just like 'STANOLIND' is for Indiana, etc. They were broken up as a result of the 'trustbusters' I believe started by Teddy Roosevelt around the turn of the century for 'unfair' business practices and price fixing...
