Something I found on my trek into the desert. Got this along with the Cub Scout service pins and knife in Barstow on old Route 66. Three things I I was actually looking for.
The sash with the coveted merit badges is not worn often, generally just ceremonies but they have lots of ceremonies. Then perhaps also at the monthly meetings. Anyway it is a nifty piece of uniform equipment with all sorts of Boy Scout Bling.
A quick note here. The shirt is 1970s, the shorts 1980s and the sash 1950s but the shirt does fit better with the sash enough so as not to clash. Photo #2 shows the myriad of merit badges.
Note that only an expert could possibly tell that this is from around 1954. I never get tired of that joke and will continue to use it.
Photo #4 shows the nifty pins that came with the sash. There is a tenderfoot, 2nd class scout and first class scout. There is also a brighter pin that is a star with the first class scout emblem. As it is so much brighter than the others it was probably added later on. Will be continuing my research.
PS. Apparently the star pin was for the parents.
What a nice find for your Scout collection Brian! :^D
Did you get the email that I sent? :^)
Great collection of scout badges fort
50s expertise noted.
It's a cool thing to have Fort, I can't imagine a sash this full and still around is too common.
Super nice. It's got to be rare to find this.
Thank you very much Bill. I replied and sent a second reply. It may have been filtered and ended up in your junk box or some other email folder. Let me know if you don't get my reply.
Thank you very much Newfld.
Thank you very much racer4four. This is the only one I have seen in person. There are some on eBay but at twice what I paid.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. Rare to find one this full with the pins plus this old.
