Old barn find. Carpenters tool chest. With lock and cast iron casters. I know nothing about it but when I saw it, I had to get it. It is very solid, especially the bottom. I haven't done anything to it but get rid of the mice that had made a home in it.

What a Great Find !!!!! I have been collecting vintage, and antique tools for many years, and only came across one that is similar to yours, and i bought it. I was lucky, in that mine had some papers in it, such as the owners carpenters union dues book, to help me to do my research of it. From my research, and speaking with old carpenters, i was told that most of these old chests were built by the carpenters themselves, as part of their apprenticeship. I did find a couple of companies that sold them, usually full of starter tools, but none that looked like yours, but none with the drawers. I have already started my research on yours, with the unusual Miller, Keyless, Chest Lock. I will post the catalog link for it below. Then you have the very heavy duty claw foot castors, of which i have on my old printers turtle table.
Most of these old chests have very construction features, such as the lids, and bumped skirts wrapped around them on the bottom. I suspect the handles on yours may be repurposed towel hangers, but not sure yet. If i hear back from you, i will fill you in if i find its approximate age, otherwise not, and again, Nice Find!

PS, Sorry for all the word and spelling mistakes, but old age is a bitch.
