WW2 German relic porcelain plate , a couple of experts have seen this plate but nobody has seen one before and are generally unsure of its origins. Its factory transfer printed not hand painted and has the SS symbol to the top with leibstandarte adolf hitler to the bottom border , backstamp see pic. Ive been told this would have been awarded to hitlers inner circle of commanders as a gift. Ive also been told it could of been a fantasy plate painted after the war. I guess the maker might have records of this piece being produced , or it may have been commissioned and unrecorded as may items probably were in war time. This plate is like any other item from war times a relic of the past and nothing more the image must be shown to describe the plate and is not intended to offend anyone. I believe it was brought back to australia by a collector of WW2 items from overseas. As mentioned 2 experts have seen images of this plate and both opinions differ to the point that maybe their is others out there that may know more and perhaps can share their opinions on here thx.
Great collector's item if real, but guess all we can do is speculate. Many advanced collectors aren't aware that at the end of the war, some of the SS & SA dagger makers in Solingen, made them to sell to soldiers as souvenirs. Food for thought. There is so much high quality Nazi fakes made now that even experts have trouble and the collecting field is being ruined. It's a regular cottage industry in Eastern Europe.
blunderbuss2 thx for your input , yes your correct fakes abound all over the world , im just wondering why anyone would want to fake a plate , its too well done to have been made at home ..the image i mean , i think a factory would have had to do this , but without certainty i may never know for sure , if i could send it to a lab and have the paint anaylised and try to get a reading on how old the paint actually is , then that would help a little , if its 1940s paint then maybe original , or even try to get info from the manufacturer of the porcelain , even then they might not have this recorded as it could have been a back door job done with a machine gun pointed at your head ..who knows cheers mate
Backstamp shows manufacturer of this plate was Hutschenreuter - Selb. It is difficult to imagine this as a post-war reproduction. Interesting though somewhat distasteful item.
thx for your comments artfoot , yes i agree with you on most points , distasteful item a lot would agree ,but i think everybody knows what the image represented and whether its on a plate , a poster , a helmet ,a coin ,a stamp it is what it is , a part of history , obviously a horrific part of history , but it will always be there and as a society we must accept that these types of images will always pop up in war time items , and these relics will always have a place just like everything else whether we like them or not cheers.
oh before i sign off tonight , dont get me wrong on this , i hated what the nazi's done to thousands of innocent people during WW2 just like anybody else , im just saying that this plate has survived and has probably seen things we never will , and the condition is so good , the image itself so clear & crisp its amazing , lets just say if this plate had a different image say like a picture of say someone famous in the U.S like say monica lewinskey then people would be absolutely astounded and would be lining up to purchase it , but with this image its frawned apon and disliked just because of what it represented which i guess is fair enough.
That's what makes it interesting but it is still distasteful.
not amused to be honest , and that,s an euphemism
apostata, Well, I can't think how being 'amused' could be a healthy reaction, anyway. :-(
It's very real:

This is a soup bowl marked with the Deutschearbeitsfront, or DAF cogged-wheel logo by Hutschenreuther in Selb, Bavaria. Around this is written and translated: “Beauty of Work and Model of the Corps.” Its famous lion is shown as the company logo.

dear i knew exactly whats is was, actually i could have earned lot of money on German militaria, and still can, i never did
apostata, I didn't doubt that you knew exactly what the item in the post was.
I thought perhaps you were expressing a lack of 'amusement' at what struck me as sly trolling on the part of the OP with their "thousands" and "monica lewinskey" [sic] references.
I posted the link for the benefit of those who might not know much about the Third Reich. There is a distressingly large number of people who don't.
actually i used the rather mitigating words not amused, to pacify
