Bambus1920
(53 items)
A recent acquisition at auction for a very reasonable price. This bowl is 12 cm high and 24 cm wide at the waist; the mouth is 14 cm in width and the base 16 cm in diameter. It is made of clear glass with yellow crumb melts and exhibits a wonderful mother-of-pearl iridescence and a polished pontil. It has three indentations on the body positioned opposite the corner of each of the lips. The swirly bands were made by exposing the underlying layer (you can feel a slight depression in the glass). The designer was Otto Thamm c. 1901. A similar example can be found in F. Zelasko's Fritz Heckert book on page 187 (no. 306). Groovy !!!
Nice find Bambus, and good information too! :^)
Thanks, Bill. I always try to provide an attribution reference if possible.
Gorgeous! :)
