Very large 1880's Barrel Top Leather Trunk. I've had this one for about 2 yrs in my collection. It was rescued from an auction for about $80 bucks. I wish I had before pics because it looked nothing like this when purchased. It has all the trays, but unfortunately no label maker etc... Always wondered what the patterns meant on the leather. Any ideas?

Nice trunk there Mike, I was looking at a 3 slat wood trunk about 2 months ago which by the way seem to be more rare than 4 & 5 if you actuall start looking for one. Made up my mind to get it and it was gone. But this 3 slat had a double lock on it and just that small detail changed the whole proportional look of it, having the small double little arms of the lock ending up in between the front vertical slats giving it an almost five slat look...3 long 2 short. I saved the photo.. I wish I could send it to you. I saved other three slat trunks searches with the single lock and the double always came out as the best looking and simply because of the double lock.
Thanks Im4anythingOld. Didn't know the 3 slats were that rare. I would love to see the double lock. I'll be emailing you soon about the Jenny Lind buttons. Maybe then you can send PICs of the double lock and others. Tks
Thanks Drill!
