I am fortunate to live in a bushy part of Sydney and these are just some of the parrots that visit us daily.
Pic 1 is a pair of King parrots in the feeder. They are nesting in a tree hollow about 300m away, so I hope to see a juvenile soon.
Pic 2 are a galah pair. These parrots are very common in inland Australia but are seen more coastally now. Inland NSW has been having a terrible drought over the last 5 years or so and because of that they have moved to areas with more feed. Obviously I have feed here! They are also nesting in a tree hollow close by.
Pic 3 are some of the sulphur crested cockatoos that drop by. There is a huge eucalyptus tree nearby that about 40 of them roost in overnight; the noise is horrific. Cockatoos don't sing sweetly, they screech raucously.
Pic 4 is a cockatoo we call Dirty Boy. He is a demanding brat. Here he is on my kitchen windowsill expecting food, and he will keep tapping until a human responds. He is so dirty because he's been digging in muddy grass looking for grass rhizomes and onion weed bulbs to eat.
There are at least 5 other local parrot breeds but some are shy and I can't get good photos.
Yes, I feel lucky to have so much fantastic wildlife around!

(I have the same Weber BBQ! Near the kitchen door, so I can bbq even under rain or snow, lol!)
Beautiful parrots Karen, esp the red and green Kings are gorgeous - you are SO lucky to have a temperate climate they can survive in, my former budgie pets could only live indoors here. By the way, do you ever see budgies, I know they are native to Aus. Love Dirty Boy, he looks quite sassy!

I do have plenty of birds visiting however, just not as beautiful.

A fine collection of birds. We have parrots in So Cal but they are boring green parrots, They don't come up here.
Thanks everyone, I know how lucky I am. At night I lie in bed and can here at least 3 owls and a tawny frogmouth (a nightjar) hooting in the bush. It's a special thing.
Pascale, we use the Weber a lot; less washing up of course!
Jenni, budgies are a dry climate parrot and live far inland, so we don't see them here. Native budgies are also much smaller than domesticated ones, they have bred them up big!
Thanks Karen, I love any bird, and even less colourful ones are beautiful when they visit.
Anik, all parrots are very smart, about 2 year old human level, but they behave like toddlers too. Yeah, Dirty Boy is smart, but so mischievous!
Fort I'm sure you have lots of other great birds, with all your bush around you. Besides, you have some stuffed inside no?
Thanks Ken, I'm fortunate I know. I try not to feed everyday, they still need to find their own food, but feeding means I get to see them up close.
Gorgeous Karen, Pic one is my favourite, I remember our farm when birds visited, but these are beyonde beautiful, God's gift to you !~
Thanks Phil, King parrots are one of my favourites. They are sweet and shy, not belligerent and loud like some of the other parrots. The male's red chest is an incredibly intense red that didn't show well in the photo.
Very nice with all different colors and you don’t have to feed or clean up after them.

The colours of those green and red parrots are so vibrant- Amazing to have these creatures most people think of as pets actually living in the wild around you.....
