Yesterday, I heeded one of those mystical "calls" that the collector often receives through the ether...you MUST go to this op shop!
Well, I'd only been there on Monday, but why not?
And thus, I was suitably rewarded by this wonderful Victorian glass basket, in a clear, pale bluish - green with opalescent touches. It features thorny "pull - out" decoration, an applied rope twist handle, & an applied footed base with a half - daisy head pattern. The turned - over top rim has been adorned with a tooled frill in clear applied glass.
Oh yes, this baby has got it all going on! :-)
I believe it's a fine specimen of English eccentricity, c. 1880s - 1890s. Perhaps by Walsh Walsh?
