So sad to hear this. Incredibly talented. Not just a great musician, he boxed and was a potential Major Leaguer also. Won the USA Banjo contest when he was 16 and repeated the next year! One of the best guitarists ever in any genre. Go to You Tube and watch him play Malaguenia on a 12 string, he looks like he has 3 right hands. Great respected loved sincere down to earth individual, I'm in tears.
Great guitarist as well as singer, who could forget Yesterday When I Was Young, fantastic touching song
Thank you Toyrebel, for posting this tribute. Rest in well-deserved peace Mr. Clark, while those you've now left behind remember your life and mourn your loss.
Amen to all.
Thanks for pointing us toward the youtube number Toyrebel. I was unaware that Roy could make a 12 string sing like Ronnie Montrose.
BB2: Roy was the versital master of strings. I remember watching him on Hee Haw playing The Theme From a Summer Place on a slide, not steel, guitar. It sounded like a stringed orchestra. God given talent.
He was a true down to earth good ole boy Thomas.
Good times, we used to love that show laying down on a shag carpet watching that talented fun-loving guy
Jericho, we used to shag on a carpet & tell people later that we watched the show. LOL ! Thomas, one of my people use to supply the set via the "twins". LOL !! I was working on a hook-up with Cathy Baker.
He was definitely a awesome musician. His picking looked effortless, Roy and Chet Atkins were my favourite of the country music of their era. We share the same name lol. Hee ha was my nickname as a kid.
I loved watching Hee Haw with Granny Johns.
