Quarrie Corporation Sterling silver medal, 14.52 grams, 33.8 mm in diameter, plain edge marked sterling. The obverse has a rectangular frame containing “THE QUARRIE CORPORATION” on a large letter Q crossed with a quill feather. The Quarrie Corporation was a Chicago book publisher best known for it’s Child Craft books and the World Book Encyclopedia. If the 1942 date is their 25th anniversary they would have been founded in 1917. Quarrie was acquired by Field Enterprises (Marshall Field’s) in 1945 and were merged into Field’s on Jan. 1, 1949.
