This is a recent Goodwill find, just because it was really cheap... ;-) :-) Measuring a little over 7" long and a little under 2" wide, it is a stamped stainless steel shoehorn bearing "The FLORSHEIM Shoe" logo.
I might be wrong, but I think this type of Shoehorn came out in the 1970's. In 1974-77 I was working in a Jarman Shoe Dept. in Roos Atkin's Dept. Store, and we were just able to order them for Department use! Before that the only ones that we had were the little thumb hook 3" ones, which weren't much help when trying to pull on low boots, that were popular at the time. Thanks for the post! :^)
Thanks SO much billretirecoll for your info & fun comment -- glad you enjoyed seeing it! More thanks to you Bill, and yougottahavestuff, fortapache, PhilDMorris, & Brunswick for the <love it>s! :-) :-) :-)
Hey AO, I just found this on one of my Florsheim Shoehorns:
Florsheim Service
1. Greet The Customer
2. Seat And Measure
3. Bring Out 3 Styles
4. Always Show Florsheim
5. Show Extra Pairs
6. Show Accessories
These days you hardly get a greeting, let alone getting someone to help you with the Shoes, or anything else for that mater! :^)
