Another Christmas gift I got for someone else. Actually I got it for my brother as he admired my tricycle. Couldn't find a tricycle but I found this. It is a AMF Roadmaster Satellite which was in the late 1950s and early 1960s. I believe this is what is called a 20" bike. It is small for an adult. At 6' tall I was able to ride it but just barely. Turning was especially difficult but eventually I was able to turn it without taking my feet off the pedals (which have reflectors for safety).
There are several nifty features that are common to bikes of this era. The fenders, the deck over the rear fender, the basket and the tank. The tank on this is removable so it can become a girls bike. Looks much better with the tank though so I would leave it on.
The basket was made in Maywood, CA a suburb of Los Angeles. That was where the church my grandparents went to and I went there now and then. Don't think the people there who always said I have grown so much are still there. It was a depressing church but it is a happy bicycle.
I remember the AMF's well. I had a small one with solid bone jarring tires. I had almost forgotten about the boy to girl conversion bar/tanks. I wonder if that was exclusive to AMF? The SJW's and media of today would approve that feature for sure!
Thank you very much Toyrebel. Got a feeling AMF had the boy/girl conversion market and yes the SJW's would love it.
And thank you very much Thomas.
Thank you

Great bicycle!! Lucky brother to be receiving such a great gift.
All that's missing on that bike is the Rookie Mickey Mantle Baseball Card flapping off the Spokes!!!! I can't count the Cards I ruined on my Schwinn High Topper!!! back in the 50's 60's!!!
Thank you very much Scott. But the bike is still here.
Thank you very much yougottahavestuff. Needs a racoon tail too I think.
Thank you
