Here is another interesting piece. Any help with this one would also be appreciated. I’m guessing some type of signal light?

I don’t have measurements handy at the moment but lense colors are red, blue, green, white & clear
Whats inside the bottom part of it opposite the handle, and what does it do when you pull its trigger? Looks like the round part w/lenses turns, how does that work?
No dimensions? Perhaps aircraft control tower signal lamp. WWII vintage as it is little like today's version. Except the lenses are right for it.
The trigger activates the light like if you can pull the trigger and send different flashes of light the bottom part of the case looks like it took a rectangular battery
Never actually seen an ATC signal light up close, but had to do the wing wagging thing once when my radio went out & the tower gave a red light to hold & then a green when I could land. Been many a year, but I'm sure it was bigger in dia. & very bright.
