    I think that the one on the left is Peranakan - made for the Southeast Asian market - Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia. I really love Peranakan pieces, although they have gotten very pricey.

      Those are spoon holders you keep on the stove to set your spoon in that you are cooking with....right?

      No. They are spoons. They're still in use in Asia.

      OK, thanks I didn't know that. Mine was sold to us as a place to rest spoons etc while cooking so as to not make a mess on the stove top.

      Phonoboy is right - they are spoons. They still use them in the Asian restaurants around me - although not these old ones.

      I have one not as old! I use it to measure out cookie dough for PA'S FAMOUS CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES we sell at our shop!! 6 cookie limit per customer!!!
