I bought and paid for this 1870's trunk about 3-4 months ago. I finally got to see it in person this week . It is like I said a mid to late 1870's, chevron pattern all zinc roll top trunk with alternating long and short wood slats. The lock I believe is patented in the 1860's. It had cloth ribbon lid stays (gone now). But the key feature for this purchase is obviously the rare patent dated 1875 padlock shaped latches which I just couldn't let get away. It measures 32L x 17 D x 19 Tall. Metal and leather handles, with bare wood bottom. An interesting example from that time. Thanks for looking!
Love the picture inside, too! I'm with you...a patented lock that old is worth the cost!
Very cool Tom, never seen ones like that before, Brian
Thanks Brian!! Me neither, absolutely nothing during any and all my searching. Thanks again!!
Thanks Guys!! FatBoy64, officialfuel, hunterqlee, fortapache, blunderbuss2
