Hello Again Everyone!!
Here is a leather collar bag, filled with collars, from the early 1900 period. It's in premium condition as are the collars. Though the collars are a bit yellowed with age, they cold easily be cleaned, if one desired to do so. I prefer to keep them in their original state though.
The wonderful thing about this collar bag, and collars, is that I have the history of the original owner. This bag was owned by Mr. Nabert E. Burkland. Mr. Burkland was born on January 10, 1887 in Montague Township, of Muskegan County, MI. He was a WW1 veteran. In 1921, after serving in WW1, Mr. Burkland went to work as Assistant Cashier at the Bank of Stephenson, in Stephenson, MI. He served as Assistant Cashier there until his arrest in 1933, for embezzlement. He served 20 years in prison until his death on December 29, 1953 at the age of 66. These were his collars and collar bag. I also have a few of his collar and shirt studs, as well as a pair of cuff links that came with this collar bag.

It's always nice to know the history of your collectibles. Fortunately, the person I bought this from own's an antique shop and is an historian.

Yes, in today's world, embezzlement would be a much shorter sentence than 20 years. A real shame that this WW1 veteran spent that long in prison for embezzlement.

That's great Thomas! I know you're all very proud of him. Our son Aaron will complete his final week in the Guard next week. He decided not to re-enlist. He's now working for the federal government in Richmond. He'll graduate from EKU with a criminal justice degree in May.
Lol!! That would be his dream come true Thomas. But, for now, he's and armed security officer at the Bluegrass Army Depot and a criminal justice student at EKU.
