I got this vase from my grandmothers estate around 10 years ago.
I think it's very unique and was hoping that someone could tell me Anything about it, like, where it might be from and if it has a special name.
It was in a room that my great uncle used to stay in when he visited (he was a priest, born in 1900, in Massachusetts).

It appears to be hand-painted. It has a 3-dimensional effect in the glazing... the butterflies, flowers, and other things, are raised higher than the porcelain (or whatever it is). The porcelain is Not raised under these objects, just the colored glazing. Could the gold colors be real gold??There is Chinese or Japanese writing on the bottom (no american writing whatsoever). I took a photo of it.
It stands approx. 18 inches tall.
Top is approx. 18" diameter; bottom is approx 16" diameter; widest point in center is 29" diameter.

    Any thoughts are Welcomed!!

      Hi from Sydney Australia!
      I reckon it's Japanese.
The characters in your picture are read by moving them clockwise 90 degrees. There is a really good site on Japanese porcelain marks:

      I won't spoil the fun.
See what you can do by going through and checking them!

These groups are willing to chime in and even give you an estimated value. Some will offer to buy the piece but I'd not engage in that to be honest.
