Lots of fakes for sure, any tips on the fake ones compared to this one ?
Of corse look for date and maker marks . The real one will have the correct gomits and also are lighter then the fakes . Also know where you buying them from . This one can from a big collection and they all were original and in some cases NOS , Yea real easy get taken
What's the backside look like??? Are there lines???
Will have to check . I don’t think any lines
The fake sellers try to duplicate rust. But it always comes out reddish in color. There was a different amount of iron in the old signs that show very little to almost zero red color. Look for dark almost black rust color.
8. Rust Stains
The iron substrate used in older signs rusts differently than the newer steel based signs. The newer signs often have an orange powdery looking rust in chipped areas. Old signs that have actually hung outside develop a dark brown or black colored rust that is much different looking than the "new" rust.
