I found this pair of 11"H (female) and 12"H (male w/ hat) Murano dancers immediately appealing, as their joyful dancing poses reminded me of Brazil's Carnaval holiday, and it turns out their inspiration were characters in Venice playwright Carlo Goldoni's 18th century works with Commedia dell Arte influence, which is traced to Carnevale in Venice (same holiday as Brazil). The cased green glass (possibly the special eugenio green color by Murano), with white, clear and gold dusting has the orig 1950s era labels, a popular Barovier & Toso design that is still reproduced by Murano today
I've not seen Murano figures in green before. Nice pair & a rare colour, perhaps.
These are fantastic Jenni!!
Nice find ,..Jennie...love the color .
Love these examples!

Wow, very nice!
When I first seen these in the thumbnail I thought they were two stylised leprechauns! I think it's the deep vivid green colour....:P
These two are so full of movement you can imagine them out on a searing cobblestone street surrounded by a quartet of musicians dancing a flamenco- especially her skirts which add real movement! :)
Such happiness in their movements !~
OOO000000oooooo.............WOW !! The full meal deal !!
Many thanks for the love everyone

Thank you so much for the great compliment IronLace, now I think of it haven't seen many green Murano figures, although in the 50s they made a lot of bowls & vases in this dark emerald type green which they called eugenio after the first name of one of their artisans
Thanks Scott for the wonderful compliment you're super kind & glad I could show something different besides my animals!
Thomas you are so right, they are dressed for a St Patrick's Day dance, and that holiday is coming up real soon! Thank you for the great words my friend, means so much as always :)
Glad you liked this pair MyCountry, thanks for the very kind compliments & I love this green myself
Thank you scottv for the great comment, so glad to find this piece & share, I think I found a good pair here as I heard many from those days have some damage
Lauren I love your comment, two "anthromorphic" leprechauns lol! But definitely this couple could fit in with a St Patrick's celebration doing their lively dance on the streets as most Carnival dancers started out as part of street parades before they built big long stadiums for them - thank you for the lovely words about their liveliness
Right Phil, they seem to be dancing with joyful abandon, thank you for noticing that and your wonderful compliment
Eileen many thanks for the lovely compliment, I do think they are special and just happened to find them at a Florida antique dealer - being vintage I would have expected big $ but pretty reasonable - Murano refashioned them in different colors nowadays and charge 2K per couple, I can see why from their complex design
Rose thanks for the fab compliment, this is probably my best Murano piece and for you to love it I'm super flattered as I love all your gorgeous Murano pieces, appreciate the kind words :)
