Just picked up this carded Bachmann Mini-Plane at the Pasadena City College Flea Market aka PCC. Luckily most of it is inside the parking structure as there was a chance of rain (no rain occurred). Most of the sellers with outside spaces didn't show but most of the parking structures sellers did show. I think I have about 6 items to post from this flea market.
On to this exciting model which is the favorite of many the P-38 Lightning. The Lightning was the only US fighter produced throughout the war. There were plans to replace it with the Mustang but due to the large stretches of water in the Pacific 2 engines are better than 1. Thus they kept the Lightning. Plus it was a good plane and it had that nifty buzz saw in the nose of four .50s and a 20mm cannon. A disappointing feature of the painted on dots for armament but it does have drop tanks. That and the retracting landing gear. Probably an early model as later models have more detail especially the Skyraider.
Yes I have a loose model too which makes this post easier to photograph. These carded planes were the last of the line (late box/early model). I believe this is 4th of the box styles. Before this the planes came in a box which was handy as the plane could be kept in the box and for this fragile models that was handy.
Not sure what is coming up next but there will be something.
Very nice. How big is mini? Hard to get an idea of scale.
Thank you very much elanski. Wingspan is 3 1/2 inches.

Nice model of a great aircraft, a true icon. This Bachmann series was unknown to me until you posted some. It's some nice quality stuff with some good choices for aircraft. I like the retracting gear. I was graduating from HS when these came out or I would have collected them if I was younger, I loved planes. I really enjoy this series.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. I have plenty more to post.
Thank you SEAN68.
