The Iron Fairy Crane made a cameo in the Girder Truck post but finally it has a post of its own. This is from 1969 and no other year and this is why.
In 1969 The MB-42 Iron Fairy Crane was first released. In 1970 it was released as a Superfast model so this version was only around for one year. That is a F style box of course which also is a clue for 1969. Halfway through 1970 the crane section was painted lime to make it look more like a racing crane. I am not into making construction vehicles into race cars just in case one can not tell.
Back to this model. It had a plastic base which is also used for the seat in the cab. Before this all Matchbox models had a metal base. A bit of cost cutting but it worked out.
The crane arm moves up and down and 360 degrees. The box top shows the exciting features as seen in the last photo. This wraps up this post and I need a closing sentence.

Very cool! Your Matchbox collection must be massive.

Thank you very much Thomas. There is a Matchbox wing at the museum.

Thank you very much Scott. Luckily Matchbox cars are small but they are outgrowing their space.

I agree, don't race your construction equipment or bulldoze with your Ferrari.

There was a UK estate auction online this morning (for them), I thought about you when they were selling lots of large boxes filled with these small vehicles and other collections.

Don't know how you feel about getting a whole bunch at the same time, but the shipping alone would have been a fortune. Plus probably was a mix of various countries.

Thank you very much Toyrebel. They should have left the construction vehicles alone.

Thank you very much truthordare. Buying large lots is good if you either don't have a collection or want to flip some. The shipping would put it over the top. I do occasionally get small items from the UK.
