I look for photography themed accessories to display with my early wood camera collection. Years ago I found this small box-camera pocket watch fob at a camera show. The box-camera looks like ordinary models made from the 1910s to 1940s. What attracted me to this cute item is the camera is also a viewer. Looking into the lens shows a souvenir photographic image with views of Manhattan, New York and the Statue of Liberty. The box-camera is not a Stanhope viewer because the film-based image is mounted in front of a translucent piece of plastic and not glued to the lens. The fob hardware has “Made in Italy” and “Lord Patent” markings.

Thanks to pw-collector for identifying this as a pocket watch fob.
stunning !!
Incredible!
The leather strap attached is what is used on pocket watch fobs. Instead of the key ring, you would attach your pocket watch bow to that end, put the pocket watch in your levi’s watch pocket and the camera would be displayed.
A great item.

Hi Dave ... thanks for the info! I'll update the post to note this is a pocket watch fob. Great to learn about this after all these years.
Here is an illustration of how these were worn, albeit, my great uncle is not wearing levi's, but his slacks has a watch pocket, like most pants did back then.
