Finally got a Hubley/Gabriel American Eagle with a white bottom fuselage for my 495 collection. Even though it still has Hubley Kiddee Toy 495 under the wing, this was after Gabriel bought Hubley in '66 and it had catalog #21214. I now have an original for each 495 version except the blue/silver that came in the Air Force Bomber Transport set. The blue/silver in the last picture was restored from an actual blue/silver, but I had to replace the damaged liwer fuselage and the missing cowling. So every plane is original except for those two parts.
Hubley listed the #21214 as being red/wht/blue in the repro '71 catalog, this looks orange instead of red to me. But all of the Eagles I've seen have this orange color, I've never seen what I would call a red version. These factory catalogs were produced sometimes a year ahead of production to see how many orders were placed to gauge how much of each item to produce. There were items that were in the catalog that were never produced in the listed colors and vice versa. A friend of mine had a '66 Mustang that I called orange but was called Japanese Red by Ford. Maybe Hubley's red is my orange.
Tentatively this would complete my collection until the orange vs red is settled. I'd like to upgrade my red/silver 1st version to one in real nice condition, which will be tough unless you find one in the box, they're the oldest and HTF in optimum shape unboxed. I'd love to get an original blue/ silver in nice shape also, but they're even harder to find.

Toyrebel, I assume you know this but will ask anyway. Were you aware that eBay has a special listing category for Hubley toys in the box?
