Picked up another toy I had as a child. It's a Remco Dick Tracy Two Wsy Wrist Radio Set. I got this for Christmas in '61, from what I've read they came out in '55. They're sound powered, no amp, generated by the moving magnet in the speaker/mikes. You've got to speak fairly loud close to the speaker to be heard, you also need to listen with your ear close to the speaker also. The master radio has a buzzer and click function. As you can see in the last pic, they're larger than wrist size. Remco made versions of this for a while. They made a Batman set during the 60's Bat-Craze in blue and gray.
These are so cool!! I can only imagine how exciting it was finding these under the tree on Christmas morning.
Thanks Jscott. It was agreat Christmas. I can remember bevause it was second Christmas I had while living in Oklahoma for 14 months. I hit the jackpot that Christmas, I also got a Robot Commando(which was a popular toy that year, one of my favorites), a Remco mortar among other things. Good old days.
Try giving something like this to a kid today. They will shoot you graveyard dead, spit on you then laugh.
Fhrjr, yep it's a whole different world now, compared to the times when kids treasured gifts like this.
