I have this beautiful banjo that I bought at an auction ten years ago in Indiana and know very little about. It has a miltitary emblem on the back, not sure what exactly. I love this banjo ?? Does anyone know anything about it?

It's a US Artillery logo of some kind, not sure which Branch, or time! Know nothing about the Banjo! :^D

I've built 2 banjos & people tell me my playing is even worse than my singing. I think the decal was added later. Even looks a bit un-centered. Looks very well made.

      Hi there,
I know this post is a year old but I came across it while trying to figure out whether or not the resonator on my own banjo was removable and saw it was still “unsolved”. I have a banjo nearly identical to this one. Prairie were a Japanese manufacturer of banjos from around the 1960s-1980s. They’re usually entry-level. I got mine for $150 back in 2013 but mine’s a little shabbier looking than yours, and the case for mine is held together with duct tape and hope. I think that was a reasonable price for it but I don’t think I got a bargain by any means. In good condition they go for maybe $200-$400. The military emblem i’d say is just some decoration added by the previous owner. Hope that helps! I love mine too.
