This vase is the first of a wonderful series of seven vases designed by Kolo Moser in 1903. It was his last work for Bakalowits, as in 1903 he founded the Wiener Werkstaette with Josef Hoffmannn. Every design is this series shows an exquisitly simple design, which boldness announces the designs in silver that will be made for the WW. For all seven vases Moser chose only three different decors: Violetta, Vulkan and Opal mit schwarzen streifen (Zebra).
This vase stands 16 cm. tall and has a diameter at the upper rim of 18 cm. The paper pattern kept at the Loetz Archives is quite damaged (image 4).
A simmilar vase in Vulkan decor was displayed at the Koloman Moser exhibition at the New York Neue Galerie in 2013. I know no other vase like this in Violetta decor.
