A friend came to our home to visit, and had a suspicious box with air holes in the sides. I knew a life changing event was about to take place...… when she hit us with a sob story about the (2) two little kittens that filled the carton.
I had recently had to have our cat "Mickey" put to sleep due to cancer, and was not over the loss of my buddy, so.... when she said if we could possibly adopt these two kittens, I said "no way".
She said that her neighbor's cat had these two kittens, and that the neighbor was going to drown them if he couldn't find another home for them. This is when our friend rescued them., She is allergic to cats, plus, she had a dog that disliked cats.
Well,.... I just couldn't let that happen to them, so...… here we are now with (2) two new kittens to go along with our 18 year old sister of my buddy Mickey.
I must admit, it really is interesting to see young kittens with all of their energy running around the house when we were used to two sleepy older cats living there.
I am glad that our friend brought that box with the vent holes in the sides.

Well hotairfan, I know all about adopting a Cat, when you really did not want one! That's what happened when my oldest Son moved into an Apartment that didn't allow pets, and we finally had lost our last Dog Coco, and thought we were Pet free! :^D We got Rex, my Son's Dog, and Peaches, His Cat, that was 10yrs ago! Rex, got into a fight with another Dog, after He escaped our back yard, and had to be surrendered, to the Animal Control, a few years ago, Peaches best Friend was gone, but she learned that being the center of attention wasn't to bad after all, and has been our only Pet, since Rex, left us, but recently a new Cat has been staying around the yard, and Peaches is not very happy about it, but, is getting accustomed, to seeing it, and I think, keeps an eye out for it, when it's not around, maybe even missing it! So who knows what the future will bring! :^D Good Luck with your new Buds, I know you'll be rewarded, for your kindness! :^)

Your kittens are absolutely adorable. And the senior lady is very pretty..... We have three senior female cats, all around 15 years old. It used to be 4, but one of them became ill and we had to have her put to sleep also. In the last couple of months I have adopted a male that was homeless. He looks to be only a couple of years old, maybe younger. He started sleeping under our cars, kind of out of the blue. When I would even start to approach him he would run away, but I eventually got him to sit still so I could pet him a little. He lives outside, but has now grown accustomed to being fed, taken care of, and shown lots of affection by our family. He has put on weight, and has a beautiful coat now. He hangs out on the front porch all the time, and has a couple of places out of the sun where he sleeps during the day. I am going to build him a cat house to put on our deck in the back for him when it rains and such. He is a lover boy for sure, and is a glutton for affection.... I call him Scrapper, as he was a bit of a fighter when he first started hanging out, but now he is a lover, not a fighter. For some reason, through the years, I have kind of been a magnet for males that roam neighborhoods we have lived in. He is my 4th outdoor adoption.... He is a really great cat!! I am sure that through the years, your two new little ones will bring you all sorts of love and joy..... Cats are great!!

Congratulations on your two new acquisitions, they sure are adorable! Great pix by the way, and think you chose the best one for first - had to look twice at one cute face behind the other

I thought one of the pics was of the senior.... In looking again, I guess all the pics are the new kittens.

good luck with your new family member welzebub.

You're right Newfld, The first photo is of the Calico Katie. She is more of the openly affectionate cat. Kodi gets periods where it wants to show love, but usually is a loner of sorts

Thanks.... He is capturing our hearts more and more every day.... And he has one of the loudest purrs I have ever heard....

Cats most certainly have personalities of their own... No denying that fact!!

SHAME on whatever previous owner threatened to drown such precious creatures?!!! <nonono> But GOOD ON YOU hotairfan, for welcoming the beautiful babies into your home, thus allowing them their chances to share all their eventual love and appreciation with you and yours, probably including their elderly 'auntie' Mickey's sister. One could even hope their 'new energy' might even provide her with a little 'bonus companionship' in her sunset years...??

I like kittens. When mine were kittens they would run around the house and crash into the walls. They did break a couple glass items but nothing really valuable.

I can't say that I would want any harm to come to the mother cat's owner, but for sure, they should not own a pet, for they aren't capable of love for animals, and maybe even sometimes for fellow man

Still marveling at how beautiful Katie and Kodi are, hotairfan. :-) :-) :-)

Outta simple curiosity, you've already mentioned that Katie is a baby girl...is Kodi as well, or are they a sister/brother pair?

My (one) little housebeast Woda (check my avatar pic) was also a "rescue", in his case, also sorta a sickly 'runt' at first too. Now numerous years later, he's turned into the most spoiled, pampered, overfed, (but healthy too) and beautiful little furball one could ever imagine...a literal 'lovey sponge lap puppy' who unabashedly rules my house these days. He shows his appreciation by randomly appearing at my feet, in my lap, or beside me in the bed to either absorb or drip luvvin's all over everywhere... ;-) <lol> :-) and by politely respecting my own propensity for bringing 'strange objects' into his (my) house every so often. Also by not making a habit to tip any of that crap (I mean other 'interesting collectables'?) that already clutters up the place off of whatever edge of whatever table/shelf/edge its sitting on to crash to the floor...? <lol>

Bless you once more Kind Sir, for being one of those (us?) sorts of people (apparently unlike their original humans) that takes pity on such otherwise mostly defenseless little creatures. I'm certain they'll both *more* than return your kindnesses into all y'all's future lives together!!

[and now one certain furball has suddenly appeared in my lap here again...Wheel of Fortune just came on the TV, so he's completely convinced he'll be starving to death before my very eyes if he doesn't get his evening bowlful of meat and gravy *right away*...?? <LOLOL>]

always glad to hear from another animal lover Anything, I usually sit in front of the TV about 10:00 PM to catch the news, and the both of them are right there waiting for their cat treat at that time. If I don't give it to them at that time they both take a stance on the foot stool in front of my and stare me down. They will stay there for an hour crying for a treat if I ignore them. So, as most pets, they get their way and have a cat treat. They immediately go to their side of the couch and go to sleep, knowing that they got their way and they are the boss.
Thanks for your comments...… and thanks for your many postings, I enjoy them.
