I found this trunk on the curb to be thrown away. I do not know much about it. I found online that it is a steamer trunk, the lock is from the Eagle Lock Co., it is hard to read due to wear but it says Pat. April 15, 1897 with an eagle underneath it, has a S in some of the hardware and it is around 70lbs. That is all I know about this beautiful trunk. I would love to know more if anyone has any info pertaining to my trunk.

OK, nice trunk for a curb find, not a steamer trunk, steamer trunks are flat top usually no more than 14 inches tall, this is a travel trunk from around the mid 1880's to late 1890's , patent date on the lock is 1879 not 97, the S hardware is Sessions hardware, I think it is John H. Sessions, alligator embossed tin patented around 1885 or 86, number 2 latches patented around 1882 or 84, overall very nice trunk.

Common trunk for the time, without a label impossible to say who the maker was as this hardware was used by everyone.
