By the mid 20th, Asian cloisonne was produced and exported by fewer producers, but the ones what were still operating such as Seto, Inaba and Ando were quite popular, especially with desk top pieces such as smoking sets, and decorative bowls, and of course vases.
My cloisonne collection was a mix of Chinese and Japanese with a production date range of 1870 to 1970. The improvement and change in the cloisonne enamel and the wire application changed drastically due to several factors.
Since I had a reference website then for the identification of this cloisonne from 1850 to 1950, with several studies of specific master craftsmen studio products, it was important to own this wide range of pieces.
