I found this at a garage sale. It needed cleaning. So I cleaned it. It is silver of a standard 800 grade which was what the popular grade of silver used in turn of the century style jewelry. I really enjoyed cleaning this one up. I just wished it was my ring size. It is a little too small for my ring finger.
Beautiful cameo face, nice find
thank you
Fab!!! What are your favorite/best methods of cleaning jewelry?
i used an exacto to clean the grooves VERY GENTLY. and a small buffing tip on a dremel on very low speed. on the cameo was a damp wipe with a dab of baby shampoo with a q tip. if you use anything abrasive on the carnelian is would mar the carving.
thank you antique daughter!
Yes, the style is ca. 1900, but the crude carving points to a much later manufacturing date.
golgatha,
the silversmith stamp is from the 1900s. i did research the silver stamp. but the cameo is a crude hand-carved one according to my jeweler.
