Found this pair of semaphore flags in Long Beach along with some other rather old Boy Scout equipment which seems to date from the 1940s. These are not marked but I will take a guess these are WWII US Army surplus that was used by the boy scouts. The Scouts are pretty good about marking their equipment but a lot of what I saw had the carrying cases marked but not the hardware. There was an axe with a marked case but the blade wasn't marked. Looked like a US army axe. I may buy that if it is still there next time. Looked liked the US Army Axe from WWII.
The signal flags look just like the ones used by Steve Scout who has been stuck ion this pose for years. That is what happens to to action figures that reach a collector. Perhaps I should give him a new job. The flags are from the Warning From Thunderhead Weather Station. Used as a last resort when the radio, telegraph or smart phone doesn't work. GI Joe Action Sailor has flags too but they are a different color.
Anyway the flags are a bit dirty but have a nice patina. They take up a bit of room but I will try to display at least one of them. They are supposed to roll up and go in a canvas carrying case.
Next week a WWII Boy Scout Canteen from the same lot.

Neat, I learned Semaphore at Camp Tuckabatchee in the summer of '68. I think it was part of the 2nd class requirements. Thanks for sharing, love this Scout stuff.

I can't say I have ever seen the white triangle on the lower inside on military flags. Red was always on the top inside and white lower outside. I know yellow was also used in place of white depending on the background.

Thank you very much Toyrebel. My pleasure to share it.

Thank you very much fhrjr2. Looks like these are indeed boy scout flags in that case.
