Restored/Preserved 1890s trunk

Restored this trunk that originally bought for parts. I had to remake the tray which did n't show any signs of having lids ( no raised center or end pieces and no traces of any original overs or canvas/cloth reinforcement/attachments. I installed a lock plate from salvaged parts collection and replaced some of the upper back portion of the wood the hinges are attached to. I used salvaged wood from another "parts" trunk. All of the paper lining was intentionally "aged" by using a personal mixture of tea and coffee and light Fruit-wood stain, to maintain an original aged look. The lithograph and decorative paper were also intentionally aged to match. The leather handles are new too, but I aged them as well, they are made from laminated belt leather. I don't like to repair/preserve or restore old trunks and make them look new. I strive and desire to preserve as much original material and patina, etc. Based on the style of original latches and materials, I believe this trunk is from the late 1890s.
