UPDATE: The shade has arrived and is yellow/orange/pink rainbow glass.

I welcome any assistance in identifying the maker of this shade.
    *****************************************

I am so excited to post these pics, that I had to ask permission of the seller to use them before the shade even arrived! Courtesy of Kelli at ebay shop "jerryfinds".

The shade is shown in white with a mandarin/yellow/pink depiction of Moonwort leaves and fruiting bodies.

Moonworts are a prehistoric fern which still survive today. Unfortunately they are threatened or endangered in much of their range. They occur near me at almost 2 miles up in altitude in the Rocky Mtns and are usually found in mid summer. They are a very tiny and very curious looking plant.

Does anyone else see a shading from red to orange to yellow in the external glass? Just wondering if I am seeing things....

Shades are the very best way to sprinkle your favourite glass throughout your home!
I can see the shading btw.

Thanks renedijkstra. Let me know if you think of a possible maker!

This decor is much like other pieces by Riedel. That possible?

Thanks truthordare. I have no idea and will defer to folks with more experience. I think Warren posted a Beckmann & Weiss vase several years ago.

I do see the vase you mention in the link provided. Somehow that looks like all the other B&W vases I have found with yellow/orange/red/green rainbow glass.

Here is Warren's posting....I wonder if the companies differentiated themselves by using differing color combinations?

I came across both when I googled 'orange cameo', hard to tell in images. Not a cameo expert, except for a fake Galle vase.....lol. Thanks for the link.

Ales also found several on Artnet...

this cameo glass shade seems to be of great quality and it does have a rainbow muted glass base, and decorated in the Art Nouveau style cameo of a plant that can be identified. You will be in a better place to ID, glass in hand opinion always tops the rest, IMHO. Let us know. Thanks for posting.

Gorgeous shade, and a wonderful addition to your collection.

Personally, I would be of the opinion that the knowledge level of the individuals making attributions would be the determining factor in one's ability to determine accurate origins of a piece. There are thousands of pieces of glass identified in Facebook groups by people who have not handled an object, but who posses the level of knowledge necessary to attribute an item correctly.

The handling of a piece is certainly nice if possible, but does not necessarily have a lot to do with a correct attribution...... It can under certain conditions, but actual Knowledge is always King.....
    12. Sammyz Sammyz, 5 years ago
@renedikkstra-but you haven't actually made an attribution, you simply stated it is not a Beckmann&Weis. I have no beef with your contribution to the discussion and welcome your input, just please be civil. I am not dissing your experience and you needn't be upset by my comments.
@truthordare-I re-read one of my messages and realized it sounded short. I did not intend to infer that I would defer to someone w/more experience than you, I meant if someone with more experience than myself can support an attribution, I will go with it!
As for the shade, I wonder if it might be a Riedel?
    13. Sammyz Sammyz, 5 years ago
Thanks welzebub, thanks all for the loves. It is a interesting shade, at least to me, mostly because of the unusual plant motif. This glass seems lightweight, but I usually handle unreduced Loetz glass so I have no better reference point.

I think it could also be Riedel. In Hartmann Lexikon is at Beckmann & Weis, inter alia, that cameo glass produced for them Riedel glassworks already marked Beckmann Weis sometimes supplemented Dresden.
But it may also be another manufacturer.

The shade is beautiful and i was glad to learn about it's plant motif. Not offended at all. If you could get a definitive ID that would be great. I did find other shades in the same style of orange on white cameo, but the shape was straight down, no curves. Thanks Sammy.

That is so exciting that they are moonworts! there are hundreds of species and they do go way back evolutionarily and many are endangered. Beautiful glass!

Thank ho2cultcha! I have since learned that moonworts also grow in the mountains of central Europe and the inspiration for this decor. I used to be in horticulture so I chuckle every time I see your web name!
