Picked up recently for free, because I just took pity on the silly thing. (and did I mention it was free?!! <lol>)
Maybe actually more "abused" than really "old", it is nonetheless a rusty handsaw with a broken wooden handle still sorta clinging onto its blade, with a brass maker's button reading "H. DISSTON & SONS PHILADA". If one could find a way to hold onto what's left of its handle without hurting himself otherwise it'd probably still do a reasonable if not precise job of cutting wood, it's teeth still seem to be kinda surprisingly sharp and intact.
One more item for the "now whadda I gonna do with THAT thing" department around here...? <LOLOL>
Thanks SO MUCH to Watchsearcher, fortapache, Newfld, yougottahavestuff, Irishcollector. & Brunswick for the so-quick <love it>s for my new old saw!!
:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
It is old I think it is a dinoSaw Prehistoric
Vynil seems to have a handle on it!!! It's a Sawfillopacus!!!

Diston was one of the better brands of hand saws. The handle was the weak point if it was dropped. If you are inclined to use it you can get new handles. Pull the old one off, clean the blade and pop the new handle on using the diston buttons to show what it is.
Really like old saws bought several got one similar to yours once made a handle for it used it for a very long time
Good Art piece Tim! :^D Clean the rust, paint the Blade White, then paint Flowers, or trace Tools, or Welcome, and hang it on the Wall!
Have a Great Holiday! :^)
Oh wow, I got behind with all the THANK YOUS to fhrjr2, OLECODY, officialfuel, kwqd, Alesia, and billretirecoll for the further <love it>s AND to Vynil33rpm, yougottahavestuff, fhrjr2, OLECODY, & bilretirecoll for your FUN COMMENTS!!!

OLECODY & fjrjr2, I agree that it remains a high quality saw that could no doubt be rehabilitated...but that'd be a lot of effort and I already work in a shop with power saws that can cut nearly anything anyhow... ;-) and Bill, no, I'd never 'paint amateur art' on it either... <eeek> instead it'll just probably end up hanging on the wall in the basement somewhere close to grandpa's 2-man logging saw...
;-) ;-) :-) :-)
That works too Tim! :^)
