I'd like to share this fabulous Martin Maier I was able to snag at the beginning of this year. I have to acknowledge
the amazing help of Brian McWhirter (Greendog) right off the bat. I've been collecting/ restoring antique trunks for about a year now, and Brian & I have become friends due to this hobby/ obsession! He has spent countless hours helping me figure out how to restore these beauties and to give them new life! Elliott (Trunkman), and Jim Cardoza (HMS Antique Trunks) have also been very helpful.

I was lucky enough this past year to not only snag this trunk, but I also snagged another un-restorable Martin Maier and salvaged the hardware off it, which I used some of to embellish this trunk a little bit more. I think the additions I made add uniqueness & style to this otherwise kind of standard MM alligator tin trunk. I went for a very masculine finish/ paint job and I personally think it turned out amazingly well! This is the FIRST restoration i have completed, and I am hoping to add many more pieces to my collection!

    I appreciate any comments below!

Hope you enjoy it -- Happy New Year

Oh my ! What a beautiful restoration! Everything about this trunk is awesome. Love the contrast of black silver with the bronze and wood. They just don’t come any better than this... kudos well done!

Hey there BigD338, again great trunk and job. I just want to mention some details about saving your photos that will make for a quicker down load for people like me to view. One thing is .jpg verses png. Jpg is the correct one for photos. to change a photo you have on your system to upload again just right click & push the rename button and remove the .png and type .jpg. That simple.
You have 4 photos in one, which is great....lol However to reduce upload time for viewing public..once you have your 4 images put together then you must resize that image somewhere around 60% I find works for this site, this works out to be about 1400 - 1600 pixels wide overall. Yours are at 2800 wide which is way more than you need for this page having a zoom built in, and certainly increases the opening time greatly. Hope this helps. Great job once again!!

Im4anythingOld -- I appreciate the comments. You must be 0n some kind of dial-up connection! I don't envy you that! All images seem to load fast and fine for me regardless of size. I'll try to keep your needs in mind for future posts.

      Cheers,

Maybe it is just me not really sure?? However once a photo has been cached on your computer it will open fast for sure, clear the cache or history it must be done again. I am not on dial up, and get photos fast. That's what made me question the image and at 2800 pixel wide and in a png format (with has much denser pixel ratio) which is primarily for blue prints and line drawings I then understood and thought I would just mention it. No harm done....lol
