This is a very old Trunk. I believe it was made in the 1800’s. It’s all original. I could not find any markers mark on it. So, I’m hoping someone may know the maker? Thank you.

Unfortunately without identifiable hardware or a label its almost impossible to say, I would say mid to late 1880's possibly early 1890's, not sure on the top corner hardware, maybe Drill can give a patent date on those, also I don't believe its original finish, looks like it has been refinished in some manner, I have refinished enough trunks to know, and it just doesn't look original to me, never the less a very nice trunk.

also I think the handles have been replaced, so some has done some work on this one at some time, not that it hurts anything.

Awesome trunk... love the cast iron “badges” across the top - don’t see them too often. Thanks for the post... always happy to see these!

But for a few Sessions hardware style differences this trunk is the same maker by the looks of it as the one I have posted here on CW last year. Unfortunately it has no maker label either .

I only have one trunk example sporting these types of hinges as you have on your trunk, so they're a scarcity as far as I am concerned. Great trunk!!

Thank you for your responses. While I was told it was all original, I don’t think the friend who gifted even knew for sure if work had been done. So, thank you, that is great to know. Any info is invited as I know nothing about old trunks. I’ll be sure to post some other things I’ve acquired as well.

Millreg, Greendog is on point. Here are some patents that may apply.I do not have this exact corner iron patent(but I'm always searching). Always remember that patents provide us parameters for time period. Some patents were used for longer periods than others. It's generally not earlier than the patent date. Although some may have produced and used that part in production during the application process prior to approval date. A very Desirable trunk thanks for the post.

An early clamp that is similar, there are variations that may apply to later models:
