This was the first arts and crafts brooch I purchased. It is beautifully made with amethysts and citrines. The little flowers are a gold colour. It is marked SILVER on the back. It’s so funny I did research for hours on end before taking the plunge to purchase my first piece. This lovely brooch turned up on the first page I looked at and within 30 seconds I had purchased it. I couldn’t believe it as it was so cheap . I kept thinking I had made a big mistake and felt a bit silly for getting excited ???? my thoughts are Bernard Instone. I also have to own up to then searching for hours on end , each day thinking gosh if it’s that easy there must be heaps out there!!! I soon learnt though that I had been very very lucky to have found this , and in contrast to my initial thoughts pieces were almost impossible to find and when found very expensive ! Just shows what a novice I am, but I did have a lucky start ????
P.s. I asked a lovely Etsy trader in Italy to have a look at this for me. She confirmed my thoughts of Bernard Instone. I had purchase a lovely Dorrie Nossiter dress clip from her that I wear as a necklace.
From the photos I would say that this brooch would be a good attribution for Bernard Instone. The flowers the leaves and the lay out of the citrine and amethyst stones which he used a lot would definitely point me to B I. I always look at the back which tells you a lot, it beautifully constructed. Well done sue.

Hello Peasejean55 , I am very excited that you think this is an Instone piece ???? I felt your opinion would be the litmus test for this piece and I have been told you are the Instone Guru . So happy dance this morning when I read your comment. The links you gave me for reference... what a beautiful piece the colours divine . Thankyou again for your comments and time . Sue
Hi Kyratango , woooo I am a happy collector this morning! Can’t tell you how many times while waiting for this to arrive I changed my opinion. The seller described the stones as glass ! The images she posted were not clear! As soon as I got the piece in my hands I knew that it was something, beautifully made and the stones were as cold as ice ! My confidence is growing but still tons to learn. Thankyou so much for your lovely comment.
Beautiful! Very nice find!
Thanks Mrstyndall, I am preening myself a bit this morning ! I know its beginners luck, but its so lovely to think I recognised this as possible Instone. Thanks for your nice comments.
