An educational post this time. The other rank and position patches follow this pattern so this should make everyone at least literate as far as patches go if not an expert.
Featured here is the First Class Scout Rank Patch. It is a median rank which is respectable.
Starting off is the patch style used from 1945-1954. Note the lack of a border around the edges and the loose threads coming from it. Patches like this are the most valuable. This is the earliest type of patch I have.
Not shown is the type used from 1955-1964. This has the trim edge of the next example with a twill backing.
Patch #2 or perhaps I should say photo #2 adds a plastic backing. This was the end of the line for this style of patch although the emblem doesn't change.
In 1972 there is a drastic change in the patch styles. They are oval instead of rectangular and much more colorful. I am partial to these for some reason. The Arrow of Light patch is also seen in photos 3 and 4 which is separate from the 1st class patch.
Last is the subdued style patch used from 1980 to present. Probably the longest lived of the patches.
I believe my next project will be an Eagle Scout uniform although that may take a few weeks.
nice write up fort.....
Thank you very much Alleycat1.
