Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Appropriate that this vase, in the colors of the Irish flag, arrived today. This is a very rare combination of colors and an enameled decor that I've never seen before. The ground is a smooth Russian green with applied orange opal drips. The painted enamel decoration is very muted and somewhat abstract. There appears to be the remnants of an acid-stamped mark on the bottom, but I can't make it out. It's isn't a Loetz mark that I've ever seen; perhaps it is the mark of Loetz's customer for this line, which appears to be Neurath & Klein in Vienna, a glass and porcelain wholesaler focused on delivering goods to stores in Vienna, Budapest, Prague, and other towns within the monarchy. They commissioned their own or their customer's designs from Loetz between 1898 and about 1928. This piece is circa 1910.
